About CPV codes
What is a CPV code?
The Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV) is the EU's standard list of codes for what public buyers purchase. Tenders in the EU, and many outside it, state the CPV codes of what they buy, so suppliers can find them by code.
How do the digits of a CPV code work?
A code has eight digits, followed by a check digit. The first two digits are the division, the third the group, the fourth the class and the fifth the category; the last three add detail. A code that ends in zeros covers the codes below it.
How do I find the right CPV code?
Search for a few words that describe what you sell, open the closest code and look at the codes below it. Buyers often use a broader code, so watch its group and class as well as the exact code.
