Social leads
Social leads: people asking for what you sell
Use the Social leads tab to find public posts where people ask for what you sell, filter them, and act on the ones worth a reply.
A social lead is a public post from somebody asking for a product or a service: a recommendation, a quote, or someone to hire. ScoutTide reads these posts every day, matches them to your products, and lists the ones that fit on the Social leads tab.
Where the posts come from
ScoutTide searches public posts on:
- Hacker News
- Stack Exchange
- Bluesky
- Discourse forums
- web searches that reach LinkedIn, Upwork and X
The searches are built from your products. You can see, switch off or delete each one, and add your own subreddits, forums or feeds. See Add a social feed.
Open the Social leads tab
- Select Social leads at the top of the app.
- The line at the top shows how many posts came from your feeds, and how many were set aside by AI.
- Read down the list. Each row is one post.
On a team plan, the count reads "posts from team feeds", because everyone shares the same feeds.
Sort the list
Under Sort by, choose:
- Best match: the posts the AI scored highest come first. This is the default.
- Recently published: the newest posts come first.
Posts the AI has not read yet show Not checked yet. They are listed after the checked posts and left out of the count.
Filter the list
Use the filters on the left. On a phone, select Filters to open them.
- Added: posts found in the last 24 hours, the last 2 days or the last week.
- Product: posts matched to one of your products.
- What the poster is doing: what the AI read the poster to be doing, such as looking for a tool, asking for help or discussion.
- Source: where the post was found, such as Reddit or Bluesky.
Each filter you pick shows as a chip above the list. Select Clear all to remove every filter at once.
Start with looking for a tool and asking for help under What the poster is doing. Those are the posts most likely to be someone ready to buy.
Act on a post
Open the row menu on any post to:
- Claim it, so it moves to My pipeline and you can track your reply. See Claim a lead and use My pipeline.
- Keep it on your list after it would normally leave.
- Ignore it. This hides just this post, and similar posts still arrive.
- Mark it Not a lead, when the whole kind of post is wrong for you. After three like it, similar posts stop arriving.
- Open the original thread on the site it came from, in a new tab.
See Keep, Ignore and Not a lead for the difference between these.
Open a post
Select a post to open its own page. There you see who posted it, where and when, the post text, and the AI's view under Worth a reply, with its reason. Once you claim it, you can set a stage and add notes. Posts use the stages Replying and Replied in place of Bidding and Submitted. See Stages and notes.
You reply on the original site, through Open the original thread.
Posts leaving the list
Posts are a conversation, not a deadline, so older posts leave the list as they age. A banner tells you how many leave today. Keep any you still want.
