Troubleshooting

Your confirmation email

Confirm your email address to start using ScoutTide. What the email looks like, how to resend it, and what to do if it never arrives.

When you sign up with an email and a password, ScoutTide emails you a link to confirm your address. You can use ScoutTide once you open it.

If you signed up with Google, you do not need to confirm anything. Google has already confirmed your address.

Confirm your address

  1. Open the email from ScoutTide called "Confirm your email address".
  2. Choose Confirm email address.
  3. A page opens called "Confirm your email address". Choose Confirm my address.
  4. You are signed in and taken to ScoutTide. A message says the address is confirmed.

If the page asks you to sign in instead, sign in with your email and the password you chose.

The link is valid for 72 hours and works once. The newest email you receive is always the one that works.

The "Confirm your email to start" page

Right after you choose Create account, you land on a page called "Confirm your email to start". It shows the address the email went to. From here you can:

  • Choose Resend confirmation email to get a new link.
  • Choose Wrong address? Sign up again if you mistyped your email.
  • Choose Already have an account? Sign in if you already have an account.

Nothing arrived

  1. Wait a minute, then check your spam or promotions folder.
  2. Check that the address on the "Confirm your email to start" page is right. If it is not, choose Wrong address? Sign up again.
  3. Choose Resend confirmation email. Only the newest link works, so use the latest email.
  4. Still nothing? Email support@scouttide.com and tell us the address you signed up with.

Signing in before you confirm

If you try to sign in before confirming, ScoutTide stops you with "Confirm your email first". Open the link we emailed, then sign in with your password. If you cannot find the email, choose Resend confirmation email on that screen.

An old or used link opens a page saying "That link has expired". Choose Sign in to request a new link and sign in with your email and password. ScoutTide then offers Resend confirmation email. Open the newest email it sends.

If the page says "Email verified" instead, your address was already confirmed. Choose Continue to ScoutTide.

Reminders

If you have not confirmed your address, ScoutTide sends up to two reminders: one about an hour after you sign up, and one a day after. Each carries a fresh link. To stop them, choose Stop these reminders in the email.

An account that is never confirmed is removed after 7 days. If that happens, simply sign up again.

Already have an account?

If you sign up with an address that already has an account, nothing new is created. You get an email called "You already have a ScoutTide account" with a Sign in button instead. If you signed up with Google, use the Google button to sign in.
